Dustless blasting

Abrasive blasting with water encapsulation. Virtually any coating off virtually any surface, with the dust cloud that usually comes with it kept on the ground where it belongs.

What it is

Paint fails. Metal rusts. Surfaces get dirty.

Dustless blasting is a paint stripping and cleaning system that can remove virtually any coating from any surface. It takes what's left of the old coating off quickly and efficiently, leaving a smooth, clean surface ready to be made new again.

How it works

The blaster combines water with an abrasive, so the surface is stripped and cleaned while consuming less media per job. During blasting, the water encapsulates both the abrasive and the coating being removed, which stops them from becoming airborne. The droplets fall to the ground and the surrounding area stays clean.

Generally, the harder the particle, the deeper the profile it imparts.

Softer abrasives like organic materials and plastics remove dirt, oil, grease and paint without removing any of the substrate or creating a profile. Harder media cut a profile into steel or concrete when a new coating needs something to grip.

Blast media

Six media. One rule.

We pick the abrasive for the substrate and the coating, from a soft organic that cleans without touching the surface to a hard mineral that profiles it for recoating.

Applications

Where to use it.

01

Heavy equipment

Rust, failed paint and caked-on grime off machinery and structural steel, ready for recoating.

02

Fleet vehicles

Strip coatings from trucks, trailers and frames without the dust cloud a dry blast throws over the yard.

03

Graffiti removal

Paint off masonry, stone, brick and concrete, with media chosen to leave the surface itself alone.

04

Traffic stripe removal

Line paint and thermoplastic off asphalt and concrete in lots, garages and roadways.

05

Wood restoration

Weathered finish and failed stain off decks, timber and log structures with a soft media that respects the grain.

06

Masonry, stone, brick, concrete

Coatings, efflorescence and decades of grime off hard surfaces, indoors or out.

07

Powder coating and paint

Any coating that has failed or needs to come off before something new goes on.

08

Asbestos abatement

Water encapsulation keeps abatement-related residue from going airborne during removal work.

Questions

Before you book.

Water encapsulates the abrasive and the coating as it comes off, so neither becomes airborne. The droplets fall to the ground within a short radius and the surrounding area stays clean. It's the reason we can blast in places a dry blast would never be allowed.

Only if you want it to. Softer media remove coatings without removing any of the substrate or creating a profile. Harder media are chosen deliberately when a new coating needs a profile to grip. We match the media to the surface and test before we start.

Paint, powder coating, rust, graffiti, traffic stripes, failed stain and weathering on wood, and decades of grime on masonry, stone, brick and concrete. If a coating has failed, this is usually the fastest way to get it off.

Yes. Sealing and protective coatings are part of what we do, so the surface can be stripped, prepared and protected by one crew on one schedule.
